Pentecost Fire and Tarrying in God’s Presence
Last Friday Night I preached on Pentecost and Tarrying in Prayer. According to the biblical calendar, Pentecost was officially Sunday June 1st, 2025 as that was 50 days after Passover. However, with the fulfillment of Pentecost in the Upper Room, you can press in for the outpouring of God's Spirit and power and provision at anytime. I pray as you read this insight below you are stirred to prayer and waiting upon the Lord. During Friday night he was breaking off the spirit of delay to birth promises in people and filled them with His Presence and faith to go forth, persevere, and see the will of God accomplished in their lives. It was a power service as we worshipped, prayed, lingered, and laid hands on one another in prayer. Know that God desires to do the same for you. I bless you to receive the revelation to walk out your liberation in Jesus name!
As we reflect on the profound significance of Pentecost, let us remember that it stands as a beacon of divine encounter and empowerment. Fifty days after Passover, during the Feast of Weeks, the Israelites met God face-to-face at Mount Sinai. This was not just a historical event but a divine appointment, where God descended in glory and gave the Torah to Moses, inscribed on stone tablets. The Israelites were called to consecrate themselves, preparing to meet the Lord, signifying the importance of approaching God with reverence and readiness. Just as Moses ascended Mount Sinai, enveloped by the cloud of God's presence for forty days and nights, we too are invited to seek His face, consecrate our lives, and be ready for His divine revelations.
Fast forward to the New Testament, we see a powerful fulfillment of Pentecost in the Upper Room. The disciples, in unity and prayerful anticipation, awaited the promise of the Holy Spirit. On the day of Pentecost, a mighty rushing wind filled the house, and tongues of fire rested upon each of them. This was the commencement of a new era, where they were not only indwelt by the Holy Spirit but empowered to be witnesses to the ends of the earth. Our call today mirrors that of the early disciples—to be filled with the Spirit continuously, to embrace both the indwelling and the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit, enabling us to carry forth the Gospel with boldness and power.
God’s desire is for us to dwell in His presence, to cultivate a secret place of intimacy where we wait on Him, seek His face, and listen attentively to His voice. This place of waiting is where transformation occurs, where we are equipped for greater works, as promised by Jesus. It is in these sacred moments of worship and prayer that God breathes new life into us, refines us, and prepares us for the greater things He has in store. As we linger in prayer, let us remove distractions, tarry in His presence, and be clothed with His power, for He calls us to step into the fullness of His Spirit, walking in obedience and letting His river of living water flow through us to touch the world.
As we commune with the Holy Spirit, let us embrace the profound joy that comes from seeking more of His presence. The Holy Spirit, lavished upon us by the Father, invites us to walk in holiness and purity, keeping the fire of our hearts burning brightly. By maintaining our first love with Jesus and asking for the Spirit daily, we become clothed in divine glory, walking in intimacy and demonstrating God's power throughout the earth. This daily communion with the Holy Spirit empowers us to exalt Jesus and the Father, urging us to seek their face and heart with fervor and devotion and persistent, prevailing prayer.
Prayer is the catalyst for all movements of God, an indispensable condition for His work. The Holy Spirit dwells where prayer abounds, empowering and filling those who engage in fervent, continuous prayer. This sacred act transforms us, making eternal things real and tangible. Through prayer, our lives are transfigured, and we are clothed with heavenly splendor. It is in these intense seasons of prayer that we encounter God's glory, where the seeds of His word are saturated and germinate, producing spiritual strength and character. As we embrace this call to prayer, we position ourselves for divine visitation and transformation.
Today, we are called to linger in prayer and worship, with an expectancy for God to pour out His Spirit and accomplish His divine purposes. Let us do this personally as well as corporately press into this sacred space, allowing Him to fill us with fresh fire and zeal. May His all-consuming love fill us, aligning our spirits and souls with His will. Let every hindrance be removed, and may the spirit of adoption into sonship replace any sense of abandonment. In this place of intimacy, we are transformed into mature sons and daughters who carry the revelation of God's glory, ready to impact the world with His love and grace. So again, I bless you to be filled to overflowing in Holy Spirit, infused with His Power to go forth to display His Glory wherever He leads you in Jesus' name.
